It’s with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Carol A. (Ryan) Nugent. Carol, (85) formerly of Hudson, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 1, 2026, after a long illness.

Born in Newton, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred (Coen) Ryan.

Carol is survived by her children, Robert Hodge, Sr. of Switzerland, Christine Fortin and her husband James of Marlborough, MA, Douglas Hodge of Hudson, MA, and Kimberly Gardner and her husband Timothy of Sudbury, MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Robert Hodge, Jr., Peter Hodge, James Fortin, Jr., and Jennifer Fortin.

Visiting hours for Carol will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant Street, Marlborough, MA 01752. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Carol was a lifelong animal lover. The Cat Distribution System brought her countless felines over the course of her life, which she happily adopted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baypath Humane Society of Hopkinton in Carol’s honor.
