July 29, 1949 ~ May 3, 2022 (age 72)

Obituary

Daniel H. Hunt, 72, of Hudson, died Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Marlborough Hospital.

He was the son to the late Maynard Hunt and Virginia (Aller) Hunt and beloved husband of Yoko (Shingaki) Hunt.

Besides his wife, Daniel is survived by his sons, Jo Hunt and his wife Karen of Marlborough, and Richard Hunt of Hudson, as well as his family dog, Gizmo. He is also survived by his brother William Hunt of Oregon.

Dan was born in the Searles Valley area just outside of Death Valley National Park in California.  His family later moved to Massachusetts in the 1960’s where he would graduate from Waltham High in 1969.  Dan spent two years in Osaka, Japan to study Shotokan karate where he would eventually meet his wife, Yoko.  They were married in 1972 and moved back to Massachusetts to start a family.

Dan spent his career as a precision combination welder while working for several local metal fabrication companies over the years.  He was best remembered for his unparalleled work ethic, his quick wit, his generous spirit and his quiet demeanor.  Dan was also an expert carpenter and woodworker and tackled several renovation projects in and around his home.

In his spare time, Dan was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors.  His love of rock music was well known, he would often listen to his favorite Pink Floyd songs and enjoyed catching Neil Young in concert.  He loved raising dogs and spoiling them like children.  His family was always at the forefront of everything he did, and his quiet presence will be missed greatly.
