Gloria (DeAngelis) Drummey Obituary
Gloria Drummey, 85, of Marlborough, died Sunday, May 25, 2025, surrounded by her family.
She was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Strazzero) DeAngelis, and wife of the late John D. Drummey to whom she was married 60 years. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Paul Reger.
Gloria is survived by her children: Andrea Reger of Hubbardston, Deborah Hughes of Gardner, John D. Drummey III and his wife April of Marlborough, Patrick Drummey and his wife Martha of San Diego, CA, Mary Garvin and her husband Michael of Yarmouth, Michael Drummey of Shrewsbury, Martin Drummey and his wife Deborah of Marlborough, Theresa Lawler and her husband John of Blackstone, Tim Drummey and his wife Katelyn of Marlborough, and Erin Brown of Shrewsbury. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Matthew Reger, James Drummey, Thomas Blasko, Blair Meza, Jessica, Rachel, and Dean Drummey, Cullen and Blake Lawler, Trinity, Mackenzie, Cade, Max, Bailey, and Cambre Brown.
Gloria was a loving and generous woman who valued the importance of family always; the kind of mom who despite having 10 children of her own took in any others who showed up and made sure there was always a place at her table for them. As a stay-at-home mom, she baked and decorated custom wedding cakes to put a little extra in the budget. Each of her creations was baked with love, and her gifts added a little extra joy to the occasion. When her children were older, she was able to realize her dream to become a nurse and graduated from Assabet Valley Regional Technical School with her LPN certificate. She worked in various nursing settings through the city, but her dearest memories were the many years she cared for the Sisters of St Chretienne in the convent infirmary. Gloria remained in close contact with the sisters until her death.
She was an active church member and Eucharistic Minister at St Mary’s Church before its closure, bringing communion to the homebound, and later a communicant at Immaculate Conception Church.
In retirement, she continued to give back by volunteering with the Marlborough Seniors Helping Seniors program, bringing meals and groceries to the homebound, and sharing companionship. She also volunteered with MEMA (Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency) and kept her nursing classes and licensure current.
