Jerrold Loureiro Obituary

Jerrold Loureiro, 75, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Marlborough, MA on May 5th, 1945, to Adelmina (Giorgi) and Julio Loureiro, he grew up in neighboring Hudson, the youngest of four.  Despite the hardship of tragically losing his father at the tender age of 7, he developed a remarkable sense of leadership and problem-solving and a truly angelic and magnetic personality he carried throughout life.

He met the love of his life, Suzanne, while out with a mutual friend.  With no room left in the car, Jerry offered Sue his lap, and by the end of the ride, he knew she was the one.  They married in 1965 and soon had two daughters, Lisa Marie and Lori Ann.  In 1975, the family moved to Arizona, eventually settling in Chandler.  A devoted family man, he was the family’s rock through every trial and tribulation, always with answers, always protecting and persevering.  He loved fast cars, motorcycles, electronic gadgets and all things technical.  In retirement, he and Sue enjoyed long road trips in the motorhome, visiting many beaches with their beloved Golden, Rusty.  When Sue was diagnosed with ALS, he dedicated every second of his days to her health and comfort, devising solutions against the unrelenting changes.

Before retiring from Stantec, he had a long career in civil engineering working on many land development projects of which he was very proud, including Native American water rights. He was loved by many of his colleagues drawn to his magnetic charm and dynamic storytelling, and developed lifelong friendships with many.

On January 6th, he left this world to walk eternally on the beach with his beloved Suzanne.  Preceded in death by his parents Adelmina and Julio Loureiro;  his sister Lucy Ryan; and his brother Julio “Sonny” Loureiro.  He is survived by his daughters Lisa Salyers and Lori Loureiro; his grandchildren David Salyers and Cheyanna Simmons; his brother Anthony and his wife Joan Loureiro; his brother Sonny’s wife Bev; and his “adopted son” Murphy Strickler.
