Jewel Dotson transitioned her earthly body as Matriarch of a large extended family in the early morning of August 4, 2022 at Brigham and Women's hospital. 

Born the eighth child of Ed D. Ward and Missouri Ward in Hood, Louisiana. Her eight siblings are Ella Mae, Bernadine, Robert, Alto, Willie, Olivia and two half brothers Sterling and Jimmy all deceased.

Jewel is survived by her younger brother Eddie Ward and his wife Juanita. 

In 1948 Jewel married Lonnie James Grant Sr. Her children are Brenda Simmons, Lonnie Grant Jr., Merti Pete, Frank Grant (deceased), Keith and his wife Connie Ward. Jewel has five Grandchildren, Shannon along with his wife Latasha Simmons, Justin Grant, Jarred Grant, Jeremy Grant, and David Ward. She has three Great Grandchildren, Jourdan Grant, Jade Grant, and Ethan Simmons.

Jewel has a host of nephews and nieces.

Jewel extended her family circle while working in ministry as a member of the Greater Framingham Community Church.

We will miss this woman who cast a great shadow. We were privileged to have her for 89 years.

A funeral service will be held for Jewel on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 10:00AM at Greater Framingham Community Church, 44 Franklin Street, Framingham, MA 01702
