Joseph "Joe" Dominick Zaia

Joseph “Joey” Dominick Zaia, age 60, of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, passed away on May 31st, 2022, after a hard battle with Throat Cancer.

Born on October 18th, 1961, in Waltham MA, Joe was raised by his parents Rose Zaia, an Italian immigrant and the late Frank Zaia of Waltham MA. Brought up in a proud Italian family, Joe enjoyed large family dinners, boisterous conversation, and home cooked food. Joe worked for Arkwright and FM Global in Waltham MA for 21 years, and Hannafords SuperMarket in Waltham and Marlborough MA for 16 years.

Joe was a loveable, outgoing, and humorous person who had a magnetic personality. When his children were kids, he enjoyed traveling and camping with them whenever he had the chance. Joe enjoyed fishing, grilling, and was a natural craftsman with carpentry and home renovation projects. As many Massachusett natives, Joe loved rooting for all Boston sports, but especially loved cheering on the Bruins.

Joe is survived by his children, son Michael Zaia and fiancée Maggie Edgar of Brookline, MA; daughter Laura Ing and Husband Jake Ing of Bellingham, MA, and grandson Noah Ing; mother Rose Zaia of Waltham, MA; sisters Francis Zaia and her wife Christine Dehar of Amesbury, MA. and Stella Aucoin and husband Eddie Aucoin of Marlborough, MA. He is predeceased by his father Frank Zaia of Waltham, MA; and nephew Christopher Aucoin of Marlborough, MA.

Visiting hours for Joe will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant Street, Marlborough, MA 01752. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Matthias Church, 409 Hemenway St., Marlborough, MA
