Karl Otto Lausten, 26, of Marlborough, passed this life on Tuesday July 29, 2025 in Marlborough, MA.

Karl is survived by his loving sister Ava, his mother Toni, and father Dan. Karl earned a Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering from University of Massachusetts Lowell, was an R&D Engineer with Alkalinth Inc., and he volunteered as an Ecological Restoration Coordinator for the City of Marlborough’s conservation commissioner.

Karl was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Charles Steen, his cousin Blake, uncle Tom and paternal grandfather Otto. Karl and Otto had many adventures during Karl’s childhood.

Karl is survived by his grandmother Annette Lausten and many loving uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 11:00AM at St. Matthias Church; 409 Hemenway St, Marlborough, MA 01752.

Services will be followed by a lunch in the St. Matthias Church Hall, and sharing of memories and photos of Karl’s life and the caring soul he is.  

Karl deeply loved nature and the outdoors, a passionate mountain biker and enjoyed water and snow skiing.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to plant trees or native plants.
