Margaret J. Belmonte (Aselage), 93, of Marlborough, died Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Chelmsford. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Mahoney) Aselage and the wife of the late Carl A. Belmonte, to whom she had been married for 66 years.
After graduating from nursing school, she worked at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio where she and Carl met. They then moved to Somerville, MA where they raised their family. Although she had stopped working while her children were young, she did resume her nursing career, working at Somerville Hospital in the Maternity and Intensive Care Units, caring for her patients as she did her family. Eventually they moved to Marlborough where they took great pride in living in the house that they built together. An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed sewing for her children, grandchildren and her home, making everything from Easter outfits to doll clothes to slipcovers and curtains. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening and playing the organ. She loved visiting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she especially loved babies. Margaret is survived by her six children and their spouses as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect St., Marlborough, MA 01752. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough, MA.
