Marguerite A. Skog, 75, of Falmouth (Somerville, Marlboro, Holliston) MA, passed away on October 29, 2022, at her home in Falmouth after a 25-year battle with breast cancer.
Rita was born in Somerville, MA on October 28, 1947, daughter of the late Anneliese (Friedrich) and Salvatore Drago (WWII veteran). Rita was the wife of the late Leslie B. Skog of Sudbury, MA.
Rita graduated from Somerville High School in 1965 and then worked for the Massachusetts Bell Telephone company as a switchboard operator. Rita was the Nutrition Director for Sudbury Public Schools and Transportation Director for Lincoln Sudbury-High School for 28 years. Rita, a pillar of the community, actively engaged in youth sports events, community events and was recognized as an expert in school administration for the Sudbury Public School system. Rita was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was the true matriarch of her family and was happiest in their company. She hosted large holiday dinners where her family feasted on homemade calzones, lasagna, meatballs, and pasta. Rita was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play youth, high school, and college sports. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s dance recitals and dance and cheerleading competitions. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan. Rita enjoyed traveling, ball room dancing, and spending time with family and friends. Her passion for dancing resulted in many competitive awards and she was happy to teach her grandchildren some steps over the years. Rita was a wonderful friend and neighbor who made real connections with everyone she met. She will be remembered for her vivacity and the love she brought to her family and friends.
Rita is survived by her daughter Annalisa Michielli and husband Michael and their two children Michela and James; her daughter Deborah Tarentino; her son Frank Tarentino and wife Shannon and their three children Jake, Carly, and Jordanna; and her sister Linda Wilner and brother-in-law Alan; and her beloved cousins Lisa Bronson and Helga McKee. Rita is also survived by her former husband, Frank Tarentino.
Visiting hours for Rita will be held Sunday, December 18, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant Street, Marlborough, MA 01752. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 19, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 11 Prospect Street, Marlborough, MA.
