Maria A. Rizzelli, 59, of Marlborough, passed away after a long, courageous journey, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Born and raised in Marlborough, Maria was the beloved daughter of Libera Rizzelli and the late Michael Rizzelli, and the devoted mother of her greatest joy, Maria Ney, and her fiancé, Travis Nichols. Lexi Page who she loved and embraced as her own daughter.

Maria was also the cherished sister of John Rizzelli and his wife Fern, Vinnie Rizzelli and his wife Lourdes, and the late Matthew Rizzelli. She was a treasured aunt to Vanessa Fuccione and her husband James, and their beautiful daughters, Avellina and Giavanna. She was also survived by her sister-in-law, Diane Andreotti.

Maria’s life was guided by her deep faith in God, which gave her strength, comfort, and hope throughout her journey. She found joy in the simple but meaningful moments such as sharing laughter with those she loved which included her beloved lifelong friends that helped her get through her battle. Your kind words and presence meant so much to her especially during her last few days. You brought her so much joy in hearing your voice or reading your messages. 

Maria will be remembered for her kindness, her unwavering positivity, and the way she lifted others with her words of encouragement. Her affirmations and gentle spirit inspired many throughout her life and during her long battle. To know Maria was to know warmth, resilience, and love. Her smile lit up any room she entered.

Services will be private, with a celebration of her life to be held at a later date so that all who loved her may gather and honor her memory.

Her final wish was simple yet powerful: “Be kind to one another.” And when you see a butterfly, please take a moment to remember her and cherish a happy memory you shared.
