Nancy Hassapes Obituary

Nancy (Harpin) Hassapes, 72, of Marlborough, died Friday, January 1, 2010 at Marlborough Hospital.

Born in Marlborough she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Marjorie (McDonald) Harpin, and the wife of the late Aristides A. "Ted" Hassapes, who died in 1983.

A graduate of Marlborough High School, Class of 1955, she was named Miss Marlborough in 1959. She later graduated from Assabet Valley Technical School in the secretarial program. She worked as a telephone operator for New England T&T, as an operator for the Telephone Answering Service, Marlborough, and most recently as a receptionist for Rockport Shoe, Marlborough. She was known as a generous, caring, and loving person with a big heart. She enjoyed the sights and sounds of the ocean and spending time with her grandchildren, who adoringly referred to her as "Ma", her children and her sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Christine Irzyk and her husband Thomas of Allenstown, NH and Paula DeNorscia and her husband John, of Bolton, her sisters, Carole DiTommaso, Dorothy MacIver and Debra Gay, all of Marlborough, her half sister, Barbara Fuller of Stow, her grandchildren, Kayleigh and Courtney Irzyk and Michelle, Kristal, and Joseph DeNorscia, many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 8, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Immaculate Conception Church, Prospect St., Marlborough, Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson St., Marlborough. Visiting hrs.will be held on Thursday, January 7, from 4-8 pm in the Slattery Funeral Home, Inc., 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough, MA.
