Peter “Pete” Richard Werner, age 77, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

Born on November 24, 1947, in Marlborough, Pete was the son of the late Robert Werner and Catherine Coonahan Werner. He grew up in Marlborough and attended Marian High School in Framingham, MA. Pete went on to build a long and proud career at Polaroid in Waltham, MA, where he worked until his retirement.

Pete is survived by his brother, Robert P. Werner and his wife Karen Werner of Sterling, MA; many beloved nieces and nephews and their children; as well as dear friends Lee Decosta and Earnie Kapopoulos. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Lambert.

A true New England sports enthusiast, Pete was a proud season ticket holder for the Boston Red Sox and loved nothing more than attending games at Fenway Park with friends and family. He could often be found smiling at his favorite local spot, Jake’s Restaurant in Marlborough, where he shared countless meals and memories. Pete was also a man of strong faith, regularly attending services at Immaculate Conception Church in Marlborough.

One of Pete’s proudest achievements was his sobriety—he celebrated 48 years alcohol-free and was a source of inspiration and support to others on their own journeys. He was known for his kind heart, thoughtful nature, and unwavering devotion to family. Pete never missed a holiday gathering on Varley Road and always made sure to bring Christmas cards for every member of the family. He valued connection deeply and always took time to check in on those he loved.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Slattery Funeral Home in Marlborough, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the Marlborough Country Club — details to be announced.
