Roderick (Rod) H. Myers

Roderick H. Myers, 89, of Marlborough, formerly of The Woodlands, TX, and Manchester, CT,
beloved husband of Laura R. Myers, died July 8, 2021.

Born July 27, 1931 in Chelsea, MA, Rod was the son of the late George and Grace (Huselton)
Myers. Raised and educated in Saugus, Rod graduated from Saugus High School in 1949. He
graduated from Franklin Technical Institute in 1951 and began an electrical engineering career
with General Electric in Schenectady, NY.

At General Electric, Rod met his wife of 68 years, Laura Ryder. Rod and Laura were married in
1952. In 1953, Rod enlisted in the US Army and saw active duty in the Korean War until his
honorable discharge in 1955. Upon returning to civilian life, he enrolled at UMass-Amherst where
he received his BS Electrical Engineering cum laude. Upon graduation from UMass, he began a
38-year career with the former Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT. Rod held a variety of
Program Manager and Engineering Manager positions and was most proud of his work with
NASA and the manned space program.

After retiring, Rod moved to The Woodlands, TX; where he lived for 20 years before returning to
New England in 2017. Rod was a lifelong fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots and had many fond
memories of games at Fenway Park. He also enjoyed gardening, reading, and traveling;
including favorite trips to Cape Cod, Hawaii, Prague, and Ireland.

Surviving Rod, in addition to his wife, Laura, are his son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Diane
Myers of Lancaster, South Carolina; his daughter, Sandi Wustman of Plymouth; and his son and
daughter-in-law, Alan Myers and Karen Errico of Somerville. He is also survived by two
granddaughters, Tina Bento, and husband Brian of Maynard; and Lori Myers of Bloomfield,
Connecticut, as well as three great-grandchildren, Colin and Grant Bento of Maynard, and Ethan
Myers of Bloomfield. Rod was predeceased by his sister Audrey Bedell, and his two brothers;
Ronald Myers and Arnold Myers.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend; Rod will be deeply missed by
his family and friends. A private burial service with military honors will be held at the National
Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Parkinson
Disease Association (APDA Massachusetts Chapter, 72 East Concord Street, Room C3
Boston, MA 02118). Assisting the family with the arrangements is the Slattery Funeral Home in
