Susan T. (Kane) Scott, 85, of Marlborough passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb 18th at Brigham and Women’s Hospital after a period of declining health.
“Sue” or “Susie” as some liked to call her, was a lifelong resident of Marlborough and a 1952 graduate of Marlborough High School where she participated in the school band as the Drum Majorette!
She was a full-time mom to three girls and enjoyed cooking and baking as well as sewing many of the clothes that the girls wore. She was best known by family and friends for her Apple Pies and Peanut Butter Fudge.
Sue later worked at Marlborough Hospital as Director of Volunteer Services and also enjoyed fundraising for the Marlborough Hospital Auxiliary, a position she truly loved. She was very proud that by working outside of the home, she was able to pay for the weddings of all three daughters.
Before her health declined, she was a member of the Red Hat Club and enjoyed various activities and luncheons with this group. She also enjoyed attending activities at the local Sr. Center with Raymond.
Sue was born on Feb 28th, 1935 to her parents the late Francis J. Kane Sr. and the late Susan (Owen) Kane and she was one of eight children. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
Susan spent many summers on Lake Boon in Hudson vacationing with her family, making new “lifelong” friends and managing rentals of the family cottages owned by her parents.
Later when the girls were grown, Sue and Ray enjoyed summer vacations in Kennebunkport, ME and attending Christmas Prelude with her daughters and granddaughter Amanda every December.
Sue loved to shop and chat and you could often find Ray sitting in a comfy chair in the mall or a store patiently waiting for her.
She is survived by her adoring husband Raymond A. Scott with whom she enjoyed 65 years of marriage as well as her three daughters and their husbands; Debra DeMarco and her husband Robert of Douglas MA; Donna Aykanian and her husband Sem of Marlborough and Bonnie Logan and her husband David of Marlborough.
She is also survived by and so proud of her grandchildren; Amanda L Aykanian of Arlington, Texas; Ryan Logan of Marlborough; Aaron Aykanian and his wife Amanda of Marlborough and Robert N. DeMarco III and his wife Rebecca of Douglas, MA.
She was also great grandmother to her sweet great grandchildren Elliot Logan, Kinley Bower, Robert (Boo) DeMarco IV and Charlotte Rose Aykanian. “Grandma Sue” will be missed by all of her family but we are comforted in knowing that she will be watching over all of us until we meet again.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of Susan’s favorite charities.
